| Estimating flows when looking at water coming out of a pipe is not easy at the best of times. Very often even the most experienced eye can be out by as much as 30% or more. With today’s aquaculture being geared increasingly toward optimising site production, accurate measurements of flows into tanks is more important than ever. Once your flows have been measured and set any changes to the system may alter them…and some more than others, depending on your system set-up. These changes can take many forms, for example how many people check all their valve flows after just adjusting a couple on the site, or switching to a stand-by pump…not many...of course not! If we did we would be constantly running around measuring flows rather than getting on with growing the fish! Another scenario; how many times have you gone back to measure a flow when it looks OK, but in fact you find that due to a small block in the valve it is only about 70% of what it should be? | ![]() |

The Flowguard is a device which will detect a drop in flow within a pipe. The Flowguard can be set to sense changes from 10 - 40% and linked into an alarm panel or control system. What’s more, the Flowguard has a clear lens (easily cleaned if fouling occurs) so that if required, a quick glance can tell that the flows have not changed. Flowguard come in three sizes to fit 2”,3” and 4” pipes, but can be manufactured to fit almost any pipe size. |
