Which Should I Use?

 

Oil-less Air Compressors
The primary difference between the names blowers, air pumps and compressors, is the pressure to which they can compress air. All air compressors used for aquaculture purposes should be 'oil-less'.

 

Air Pressure
First determine the pressure required. To form bubbles, you must have enough pressure to overcome the depth of water above the diffuser + the supply of pipework friction loss and the diffuser's operating pressure. An example of this would be:

Air Volume
Your next consideration is the volume of air needed. Every situation requires different airflows, if help is required in this, please do contact Aqua Systems

Air Flow
When using low pressure air, it is important that the air piping system and diffuser offer very little resistance to air flow. It is a good idea to use large diameter drainage pipe, this is because of the low pressures involved, this pipe works well and is economical.

Special Situations
If you must go deep under the water or use a high-resistance diffuser, you'll need to look at higher pressure compressors.

Pressure Relief Valves
These are very important when used with higher pressure blowers, such as the side channel and compressors, since throttling back blowers increases the pressure and causes over loads on the drive motors. The pressure relief valves should be rated to lift at the maximum blower pressure and should be large enough to pass most of the air produced by the blower. The biggest cause of motor burnouts are caused by incorrect pressure relief.

Rotary Vane Blowers up to 2.2 bar

Rotary vane compressors feature oil free operation and are very reliable.

They are ideal for producing large quantities of air at pressures up to 1500 mbar (21.8 psi) for fine pore diffusers and applications at depth.

Rotary vane compressors are ideal for deeper water aeration applications, or use in aeration systems, where diffusers require higher pressures to produce smaller bubbles.

Dry running rotary vane compressors, with integral suction and blast air filters, pressure regulating valve.
