Ozone Destruction

As well as being a very effective agent for killing pathogens, ozone is also toxic to fish (in fact all forms of life!). For this reason, levels of ozone eaching the fish must be very carefully monitored and controlled.

Aqua Systems can supply all your ozone destruct equipment to remove safely any excess ozone from the culture water. There are various ways in which to do this. We recommend U.V. to destroy ozone in fresh water in conjunction with a degasser, where possible.

Below are listed U.V. units suitable for this purpose.

A guide to sizing the right unit is that 10 watts of U.V. is required for every 1 gram of ozone used. This should be used as a guide, as the BOD and clarity of the water affects this ratio. For more information, do please contact Aqua Systems.

Aqua Systems, custom design ozone destruction units, to remove excess ozone from the culture water, under controlled conditions. All systems are custom designed to suit the system that they are being supplied for. This is because the concentration of ozone that is added to the water, will vary from site to site, as will other treatment processes, which are already present in the system. The positioning of the ozone injection in the system, also has a bearing on the destruction method and unit required.

Our engineers will be happy to advise and quote for a destruction system and will require the following information :

REDOX level to be maintained in ozone contact system

Percentage of total flow through the contact system

Operating and make up water salinity

Species to be farmed

Other treatment processes in the system

Positioning of ozone system within the system

Type of control used for ozone injection
