It is often impossible to tell whether water is supersaturated by looking at it. Even slight levels of nitrogen saturation can lead to fish mortalities usually.



 As with all Saturometers, the response time of the probe is quite slow and the probe head must be left in the water to be testes for approximately 15 minutes, before the reading becomes stabilised

Q - How Can Supersaturation Be Prevented?


● Always use a properly designed degasser following any heating.

● Make sure all joints in pressurised pipe systems (even low pressure) are completely sealed. Just because water is
not leaking out, it doesn't mean air cannot get in.

● Check using a Saturometer or Tensionmeter .... especially if you have small fish in a system, which uses
pressurised pipes. It's the only way to be sure that your fish are not at risk.

● Always run ground water (such as spring or borehole) through a degasser before allowing it to go to the fish.
Supersaturation levels of ground water can change from day to day.
